Just in time for spooky season, create a pumpkin amigurumi friend this fall!

Pumpkins were always one of my favorite parts of fall, so it is no wonder that a pumpkin amigurumi crochet pattern was one of my first seasonal creations.
You see, each year when I was younger, pumpkin picking was THE highlight of autumn memories for me. Driving to the farm, the chill in the NJ air reminding us that the summer was all but a memory as we shivered from the breeze. The haunted hayride while sipping a lukewarm cider, to get to the pumpkin patch. I loved carving pumpkins as a child almost as much as I loved picking out my plant based canvas. I would hunt for what seemed like hours for the best in the patch to create the ultimate spooky squash of the season.
It was an event to look forward to. Totally worth the awkward photo ops with scarecrows and wooden props with spots for our heads would haunt me and my siblings well into our older years.
Sure, apple picking and pie baking are fun fall festivities as well, but for me the pumpkins are king.
I will save you the horror of those photos, and instead share something much less scary with you today. Meet Jack Pumpkin! This palm sized pumpkin amigurumi pattern is one of my legacy Cheerful Chameleon designs! Today I am going to give a little treat (no trick!) and share the amigurumi version with you all! So go forth and create your own Jack-o lantern that will last longer than a few weeks! Perfect for your shelf or add to your favorite lovey blanket for a wonderful season snuggle for your favorite tiny ghoul.
Materials Needed
Worsted Weight Yarn (4)
• 90 yards orange yarn (or whatever color you wish your pumpkin to be!)
• 20 yards green yarn (for your stem)
• 20 yards black yarn (for that devilish grin)
• 1 yard yellow yarn, (to outline the face)
I love Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran. Colors Blood Orange, Grass Green, Pure Black, and Buttercup yellow would be wonderful for Jack! I used a color called mandarin orange for my photo here, but that shade has since been discontinued. Feel free to use whatever weight 4 yarn you wish!
Other Materials needed
• 4mm crochet hook, I use Clover Amour Crochet Hook: 4.0mm
• Polyestor Stuffing
• Yarn needle, stitch marks and scissors.
Gauge
4 Sc Sts across and 4 Sc rows = 4″.
This will create a pumpkin amigurumi approx 3.5″ across when completed with suggested yarn and hook, however if you wish to make a larger or smaller pumpkin, simply increase or decrease yarn weight and hook sizes.
