Come join our creative community crochet along event and create a Gayle of your own along with other creative friends to kick off the new year!

It is time to kick off our first ever community Crochet Along, and what better face to start with than our lovely gecko Gayle!
What is a crochet along?
A crochet along (CAL for short) is so much fun! At the surface, it is an event where a bunch of people get together and work through the same pattern at the same time! Looking deeper however, it can be whole lot more! A Cal can incredible interactive experience. One that enables you to see many different versions of the same design coming together at once. It also gives the opportunity for real time peer-to-peer assistance as you create!
Have a problem? Stuck on a section? Simply ask in the crochet along chat and others are able to easily assist as all will be working on the same design! This is a great time and place to step outside your typical comfort zone and challenge your skill a little, while making friends and becoming part of a community of creative minds.
Gayle CAL Event Details!
The Gayle CAL will kick off in our community Discord on January 14th and run through January 31st! Make sure to head on over, even if you will be sitting out the Gayle event, as you are so very welcome to join in and become a part of our creative crew!
You will need the Gayle the Gecko Crochet pattern! You can purchase a copy at Etsy, Ravelry, Lovecrafts & Ko-fi ! She is an overall easier intermediate level pattern, with a couple trickier parts. With hands on help during the event they should be much easier to master.

Gayle uses two weights of yarn in her creation.
For her main yarn (body and limbs), you will be using a worsted weight (about 14-16 WPI in thickness) yarn and a 4mm hook. I have used Malibrigo Rios (16WPI) and Yarn Bee yarn (14WPI). As long as you get about 12-13 Stitches in a 2″ section the yarn should be fine when paired with the other materials proportionally
*WPI is Wraps per inch.
For her eyelashes and spikes, you will be using a 4ply cotton yarn (22 WPI in thickness) and a 2.75mm hook. . I highly recommend Scheepjes Catona Cotton as it is a mercerized ply which adds a certain bit of stiffness and shine to the section! Another yarn to look at for this would be Yarn & Colors Must Have.
As always, with any crochet pattern, the freedom of choosing yarns is part of the process. These are just what the pattern is created with in regards to yarn weighs to have it create as closely as intended. You can change up at will, just know that she will in the end be a unique gecko that may stand out from the crowd!

Where’d she get those peepers!
If you are using the recommended yarn weights, Gayle uses 15mm Cat pupil safety eyes. The eyes I have used are from Suncatcher Craft Eyes! You can shop the many choices here. Some of my favorites for this pattern are the Masquerade, Galaxy & Double Glitter, and the Dragon/ reptile styles!
If you have changed the yarn and hooks used, you will want to change to an eye size that will span across 4 rounds of stitches.
You will also need Stuffing & Stitch markers!
A special end of event bonus!
At the end of the event, every completed Gayle will count as an entry into a random drawing for one lucky name to win their choice of a $25 gift card to Etsy or Suncatcher Craft Eyes! In addition, up to 5 more names will be randomly drawn (based on amount of participants) . These names will win a free entry into the next community CAL event or a free Critteriffic Crochet Pattern of choice!
I really am looking forward to this event, and I just know it is going to be so much fun! Please stop by the Discord, and feel free to ask any questions or see the full list of the info about this event
